Join your SRCC friends for a 10-day, 9-night cycling and adventure trip in beautiful Lake Tahoe. We meet in South Lake Tahoe on Friday, May 31 for a 5-night stay, departing for Tahoe City on Wednesday, June 5 for a 4-night stay. Possible activities include America’s Most Beautiful Bike Ride, mountain biking, rafting, zip-lining, hiking, hot springs, swimming, lake activities and sightseeing. See the description and web links below for more information on the various activities. Bike rides suitable for a variety of pace and skill levels will be available.
This tour is being planned around America’s Most Beautiful Bike Ride (www.bikethewest.com/ambbr-reg) which is scheduled for Sunday, June 2. The ride, true to its name, is stunning! It begins in south shore near our accommodations, and there are several length options available. Note: separate self registration is required for this activity (registration typically opens January 1st). Other activities, as listed below, will also be booked separately by participants so you can mix and match what you want to do. All cycling or a mixture of activities. More information on activities available and prices will be provided once you sign up for the trip.
LODGING, MEALS AND MORE
The tour fee is $1,200 per person double occupancy and includes 9 nights lodging at negotiated discount rates at Basecamp Tahoe South (basecamptahoesouth.com) and Basecamp Tahoe City (basecamptahoecity.com). Lodging is centrally located in South Lake Tahoe and Tahoe City within walking distance to restaurants and amenities.
The fee also includes one group dinner, 9 breakfasts, 4 lunches (provided on designated riding days), happy hour refreshments (on 5 nights), snacks, SAG support on bike rides, route maps, sightseeing information, and coordination of activities, lodging and more by the tour organizers.
TOUR FEE PAYMENT AND CANCELLATION POLICY
Upon registration, you will be charged a $50 fee and placed on a "pending" list. The tour leaders will review the pending registrations, assign hotel rooms, and contact you if your participation is accepted. At that time an additional $550 will be invoiced for a total initial deposit of $600 (payable by credit card or PayPal online), due within one week of tour acceptance. The final payment of $600 is due by check by January 1, 2019*. Fees are based on double occupancy; those preferring single occupancy will need to pay a single supplement of $750 (also due January 1, 2019), but space for singles is extremely limited. Participants are encouraged to find their own roommate if possible. Please indicate your preferred roommate or if you want/need to be paired with someone on your registration form.
Upon cancellation, refunds of tour payments will depend upon whether a replacement rider signs up and on costs that can be recouped. The amount refunded will be based on the principle that neither the tour’s remaining participants nor the Club will incur any additional cost as a result of cancellations. If the cancelling participant is replaced, a refund will be made at that time, less a $25 fee. If the cancelling participant can't be replaced, any refund will be determined after the tour and final expenses are tabulated. If an individual participant sharing a room cancels and another roommate cannot be found, in addition to other costs that cannot be recouped, the cancelling roommate may also be liable for the single supplement fee of the roommate remaining on the tour. Tour participants can consider obtaining trip cancellation insurance.
* Arrangements can be made to pay the second installment by credit card, with an additional fee to cover the credit card transaction fees.
NOTE: SRCC has included a “contingency fee” in the tour pricing. If the contingency amount is not used, it will be divided evenly between participants and refunded at the end of the tour.
RIDE PARTICIPANT RESPONSIBILITY
Please remember that the Tour Leaders are volunteers, and that successful tours depend on participants providing much of their own support. Participants are expected to come to the ride well trained, in good health and ready to accomplish the required daily riding using well-maintained bicycles. All participants should accept responsibility for a safe and enjoyable tour. Please do not interfere with the ride by inviting non-participants onto any portion of the ride or tour. Please keep the Tour Leaders informed of any special request you may have. Tour participants must be SRCC members.
Participants are responsible for their own transportation to and from the Tahoe area. Carpooling is encouraged and the Tour Leaders will facilitate carpools.
