For ride leaders and riders, I wanted to post some reminders about the SRCC ride rating/description system (which you can find HERE), part of the Club's ride standards and guidelines which were developed through the hard work of a ride leader committee several years ago. Ride leaders should post rides consistent with this system so that riders can clearly understand the planned pace and style of the ride. It also helps visitors and prospective members understand how SRCC manages the ride program.

First, we have the following paces - these are the AVERAGE speed over an entire ride (not speed on the flats). See more information, including how to "test" your pace with the speed trap at the link above.  Note that if a ride leader wants to allow multiple paces, they should list the pace as, for example A & B (not A/B) meaning both paces are welcome. We are considering some minor changes to these ratings to reflect current practices - stay tuned for more information after the New Year.

We also have another descriptor which is often left off by ride leaders, which relates to the style of the ride in terms of regroups.

    • None (no planned regroups)
    • Occasional (ride leader will determine)
    • Frequent (ride leader will determine)
    • Stay-together (group rides together over the entire route (sometimes no-drop)

Ride leaders can add this to the forum or just discuss at the start of the ride. But if used, please select just ONE of these descriptors.  If a ride is listed as Occasional, for example, it would not be Stay-together (which can include "no drop").

Let me know if you have any questions

    Bridgette

Ride leaders: remember that this forum is ONLY for information for rides posted on the SRCC calendar.

To post a ride to the SRCC calendar, see information here: https://srcc.com/Ride-Leader-Resources or contact ridedirector@srcc.com.

If you would like something to go in an eblast to members, please contact president@srcc.com or ridedirector@srcc.com.

Also, remember to PUT THE DATE, TIME, PACE & START LOCATION in the subject line

Do not put only the day of the week (it will not be obvious for example, which Monday you are referring to).

    thanks

Ride Leaders, remember to put ALL of this information in the title of your forum post. The date is especially important (e.g., don't just say "Monday" - which Monday? - add the date). Please add the time also. Thanks!!!

Ride leaders, if you need to cancel your ride due to weather or other reasons (or make any change), you need to create a “reply” to your original post. This will “push” out a notification email to forum subscribers. Editing the original post will NOT result in an email being sent.

Note, this is clearly indicated at the top of the forum page (see the third line):
