Mt. Tam Trainer - Sunday July 20th -
8:00AM - START TIME
McNear Park, Petaluma
5 Big Hills, Long Climbs / C-D Brisk-Aggressive Pace / 95 Miles
This ride traces the first half of the Mt Tam Double Century course. We'll warm up over the rollers to Fairfax, then regroup at Mile 25 just before the big climb (water and bathrooms available). Then it's 15 miles of climbing to the top of Mt Tam, where we'll regroup again (Mile 40; water, bathrooms). The reward for all that climbing is the fantastic view from the ridge and a long descent to the coast, at which point we'll follow Hwy 1 north to Pt Reyes Station and our final regroup at Mile 77 (food, water, bathrooms). Turning inland again, the small hills along the Point Reyes-Petaluma Road may feel bigger than they look and we'll be glad to reach the last downhill into Petaluma.Riders should be prepared with pocket food to see them through the first 77 miles. Expect riding time to be 6:30 to 7:00, with an additional 45-60min spent in regroups.
