Club Program Update
At this time, all SRCC club rides and events are suspended. We take our responsibility to protect public health and the health of our members seriously, especially considering our membership’s older demographic, so we have taken this unprecedented action. For details on how the current regulations relate to cycling in Sonoma County, please read on.
The State of California has placed restrictions on gatherings and urged individuals over 65 to stay at home. The State of California, the Bay Area Counties, and Sonoma County, have issued "shelter-in-place" directives. The County order allows outdoor activities, including walking, hiking, biking or running, which are healthy and encouraged, and are allowed as long as you practice social distancing. Some parks have been opened for walking, jogging, hiking and bicycling.
As of May 12, 2020, one may drive to parks to walk, hike or cycle within the park. Parking lots and restrooms have been opened for park users. Note that "unnecessary travel" is still restricted, so please refrain from driving to and parking at parks and riding elsewhere (that would be "unnecessary travel"). Furthermore, the County FAQ states that "while driving to inland parks for basic exercise is allowed, park users are encouraged to stay close to home, limit their time and interactions with others in public, and if possible, initiate their park visits from their homes by walking, hiking or biking. If crowded parks make social distancing difficult, park managers can close parking areas, limit trail access, or close parks." Please take special note of this last caution: If parks or parking lots become crowded or if people violate the rules, they may close these facilities again. Please help us keep access open by following these rules. Please also ride solo or in SMALL groups. You can find the full order and FAQs HERE.
The Order and FAQs also state that you must carry a face covering when recreating/exercising outdoors and you must wear the covering when you come within 6 feet of other visitors (who are not members of your household.) The order states that "this rule applies all users, whether walking, hiking, jogging, biking or fishing." Please follow this requirement especially riding on bike paths which do not allow 6 foot distancing. See the face covering order and FAQs HERE.
Please watch your email boxes for eblast updates, including the status of all club programs and events.
We hope you and your families are staying healthy and look forward to see you on the road again soon.
