If you love climbing on narrow roads in wild places this is a good ride for you. We'll warm up on Sweetwater, a lightly-traveled road with both open areas and redwood groves. We'll fill our water bottles at the entrance to the park then head up the hill for our second climb in Armstrong Woods State Park (free entry to cyclists). For the first mile, flat through the redwoods, we'll go slow around the tourists. This road is narrow, fairly open on the climb, and steep in places. While there can be some traffic, they're all going to the campground and drive about 5 mph and are known to shout out encouragement to cyclists. We'll U-turn at the Scenic Lookout and descend the bumpy road carefully. After filling our water bottles again and if necessary a quick stop in Guerneville for pocket food, we'll do our last climb for the day. We'll do just the paved portion of Old Cazadero, and U-turn at the gate. It's a very lightly traveled narrow road primarily through forest. We'll take a food break in Guerneville before heading back to the park.

This route can be short-cutted for those who don't want to do the whole thing.

Please bring 2 water bottles and whatever pocket food you need.
