This ride features some of the less traveled roads of Sonoma, Mendocino and Lake Counties, starting with Geysers Road.

It is certainly one of the most difficult, and epic adventure routes in the area! The route does include an 8.5 mile section of Hwy 101, but riders will find a wide shoulder here and the miles will pass quickly. We'll have a pit stop in Hopland at Mile 48, shortly before starting up the gentle graveled grade of Old Toll Road toward Lake County. Old Toll is navigable on a road bike with 23-25mm tires, however, sturdier 28-32mm tires are highly recommended. Consider bringing a spare tire if you are a heavier rider and/or if you are riding standard road tires.

After descending the rougher gravel east side of the ridge toward Clear Lake, we'll double back on the Hopland Grade and return to Hopland for a second pit stop at Mile 86. Then on to scenic Mountain House Road, and Hwy 128 south to Cloverdale, with smooth roads on the final stretch to Healdsburg.

This ride will likely take ten hours, including stops. Riders should bring a route slip, a cell phone, a bike in good working order (check your tires!), two large water bottles, two spare tubes, and sufficient calories for at least the first 50 miles. A shorter version can be fashioned by starting and finishing in Cloverdale.
