SIGNUPS REQUIRED: we will be limited to 16 riders (inclusive of the leaders) because the ferry is small and can only hold that many bicycles. Led by Len Hirschi 480-9790 and Jay Daniel 415 609 1495
Route: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/44052093
Ride start is at the Larkspur Ferry parking at 0900. Rolling promptly at 0915 or sooner. We will lead at an AB pace and expect everyone to stay together for logistics and safety. We will stop at places of interest, convenient restrooms and we can determine coffee stop options at ride start.
This ride is as beautiful as it is exciting. We travel over the Richmond Bridge bike path, through the small town of Pt. Richmond, through a tunnel and along a bayside park to the Port of Richmond. Traveling along the Bay shore for over 10 miles we pass marshlands, horse racing track and connect to the Bay Bridge bike path across the street from Ikea.
Over Yerba Buena Island is a short climb to then descend onto Treasure Island to catch the ferry to SF ($5). Ferry schedule is here: https://tisf.com/ferry-service
We'll have lunch in the Ferry Building area then safely we ride along the Embarcadero to Aquatic Park, across Crissy field to the entrance to the Golden Gate Bridge, a short climb, over and through Sausalito and Mill Valley to the finish.
Unfortunately, SMART has cut their weekend schedule so taking the train down and back is risky. But, if you are interested you can take the first train of the day to arrive just before 9am in Larkspur; contact Jay as he will be catching SMART in the Petaluma area. There are only two options for the return train: either 1:40 or 4:07 PM departure time. It will be pretty tough to make the first one as the ferry from TI will arrive in SF at 1220 with 18 miles to get back. The option to take the GGBD Ferry back for Larkspur may not be feasible as it leaves at 1220 - next one is at 240pm.
PLEASE arrive at LEAST 10 minutes before the ride start time and be ready to ride at the start time.
